Kids love the good weather and warm weather. Thanks to this, associated with the vacations, they know that this is a wonderful time when they can play outside 24 hours a day. However, we adults worry about other things, for example, if we don't know how to protect children from the summer heat.

At this time of the year, and especially in our country, which suffers high temperatures during the summer season, it is important to protect our children, as they are not aware of how dangerous the sun's rays can be at certain times of the day without adequate protection to cover children's needs.

This time of year is dangerous for babies, but also for small children and the elderly. Hence the need for protection, to prevent the high temperatures from affecting them negatively, so that they can enjoy a healthy, healthy and fun summer away from the risks.

Discover how to protect children from the summer heat

Let's go step by step to see what to do so that children do not suffer the rigors of the excessive sun that can be so dangerous in the summer season, especially during the heat wave, when the sun is at its strongest.

Limits time outdoors

It will not be easy, but as much as we can, we will limit sun exposure between 12 noon and 5 p.m., which is when it is strongest and most damaging to infants' skin, especially that of babies or the whitest children.

During these times we can imagine and devise other activities that allow you to be in the shade or, as far as possible, the least amount of time exposed to the sun.

Protects children from heat, especially during lactation

Heat is especially harmful for the little ones. In fact, during the first days of life, it is not advisable to give them too much sunlight, especially in summer. If temperatures are above 25°C and humidity is high, avoid external contact as much as possible. If it exceeds 35ºC, we will not let the baby go out and be exposed to the sun.

Choosing the right clothing for children

Clothing is a key element for child protection during childhood. For example, on hot, sunny days, a cap is a must-have accessory in the children's wardrobe. Keeping direct sunlight away from their heads is very important.

Shorts and breathable short-sleeved T-shirts should also be worn so that they are as cool as possible during these hot days.

Always use sun protection

Sunscreen is necessary whenever your child goes outdoors, especially during the hottest hours of the day when the sun's rays are most intense. In fact, use a high factor sunscreen, at least factor 50. In addition, if your child spends a lot of time outdoors or is in the water, replace it every hour or so.

Other details to consider

Finally, we provide here some significant details that will also be useful in this matter:

  • Do not let children stay inside the car.
  • Hydrate the little ones with fresh water on a constant basis.
  • If the child is hot, let him/her take off some of the clothes he/she is wearing, but never if he/she is going to be in direct sunlight without adequate sunscreen. Do this only if they are in the shade.
