As adults, we know that learning a new language is ideal for accessing a greater amount of information and, in turn, having better job opportunities. But, do you know the importance of learning a second language in children? At Logos Nursery School we know the importance of exposing our students naturally to a new language and with the help of our Language Immersion Program we encourage both students and parents to learn more about language immersion: what it is, its advantages and benefits.

What is linguistic immersion?

Linguistic or educational immersion is the intensive exposure to a second language in the school environment, adapting it to the student's usual coexistence. The main objective of this constant exposure is for the student to become proficient in both languages, learning much faster and acquiring more and better skills and even other competencies.

At Logos Nursery School, we encourage permanent contact with the English language in the classroom, playground or dining room, with the purpose of helping our students reach a bilingual level. For this, we rely on daily practice and dynamic experimentation with English to optimize the production of new knowledge in our students.

Advantages and benefits of language immersion

In addition to increasing knowledge of the language, language immersion offers a number of advantages and benefits for the student:

Improves linguistic comprehension

Contrary to what some parents think, bilingualism at an early age does not cause any "confusion". On the contrary, at a younger age children are able to accept and learn another language more easily. Our Language Immersion Program incorporates the immersion of our students in English during the second phase of the infant cycle (3, 4 and 5 years old) and throughout the day.

Increases cognitive skills

Studies have confirmed that language learning is much more cognitive than linguistic. Language immersion fosters creativity, mental flexibility, memory capacity, multi-tasking, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Improved academic performance

Combined with the increased cognitive benefits, learning a new language even benefits young children's academic development. Our bilingual students at Logos Nursery School have been shown to significantly improve their academic performance with their increased problem-solving skills and mental flexibility.

Increasing cultural understanding

In addition, learning a second language allows students to know, understand and develop greater empathy for new cultures. This increases their ethical values and their desire to acquire new knowledge.
